| Summer
2006 I experimented with a new line of non-glossy acrylics
and made some quick small paintings that are quite a bit looser
than
my usual work.

| The
angel series was influenced by the women in paintings
by the
masters, over the centuries. The patience, resignation and
solemnity of angels, goddesses, and metaphorical archetypes
stand as qualities
contemporary women embrace as well. |

Painting
the flowers in my garden is a spiritual experience for
me. The variety and intricacy of even the
most mundane garden flower is so much greater than anything
a mere human artist can achieve. Painting them feels like
becoming one with the flower; I transcend
my
awkward
human
body
and
nod my head in the sun on my gently waving stalk.
Although
I do not attempt botanical perfection in my flower paintings
I try to feel the essence of the flower and convey
this in the different mediums I use. A decade of travels
has allowed me to gather hand made papers and paints
from China, Japan, Mexico and Italy which influence my
work
greatly.

| The
Goddess archetype represents feminine energy in the world around
us. Both men and women have feminine energy they use to nurture
their loved ones, home, community and environment. |
